What is the I City addon?

I City is a comprehensive tool used to create virtual cities within the software environment. It consists of two main parts: the System and the Assets. The System serves as the basic framework for the city, while the Assets are used to build and decorate buildings and infrastructure within the city.

How does the System work?

When starting to use the Add-on or pressing the “Start” button, the Add-on’s system is loaded and prepared to receive Assets. The system is loaded with a set of basic Assets that form the fundamental structure of the city, paving the way for adding other Assets.

Loading Assets:

Click on the “Load Assets” button to start the process of loading Assets into the system.
The system reads the available Assets in the Assets folder.
Choose the appearance you want to explore its Assets.

Selecting Assets:

Once the appearance is opened, a list of available Assets for that category is displayed.
Select the type of Asset you want to load.
Click on the “Insert” button to add the Asset to the scene.

Section One: Procedural Buildings

Selecting Procedural Buildings:
Start by selecting the faces you want to convert into procedural buildings.
Specify the minimum and maximum height for the buildings to appear on these faces.
Showing or Hiding Assets:   
You can show or hide Assets in the scene or render, whether for complete Assets or Assets scattered on surfaces.
Applying Settings:
After making adjustments, click the “Apply” button to apply the settings and the selected procedural buildings to the chosen faces.

Section Two: Parks

Once the appearance is opened, a list of available Assets for that category is displayed.
Select the type of Asset you want to load.
Click on the “Insert” button to add the Asset to the scene.

Section Three: Presets

Selecting Building and Perimeter Shape:
Choose the building you want to use.
Select the appropriate shape for the building’s perimeter.
Applying Settings:
Press the “Apply” button to apply this information to the selected face.
General Add-on Settings:
Defining Asset Locations:
This setting allows you to specify the locations of the Assets within the city.
Verifying Asset Readiness:
This feature allows you to verify the correct reading of the Assets and their alignment with the stored information.
With this guide, you can adjust and customize the behavior of the add-on, ensuring its efficient and accurate operation at every stage of city building.

To install the add-on in Blender, you can follow these steps:

Section Three: Presets

Navigate to Blender Add-ons:
Open the Blender software on your computer.
 
Access the Add-ons Section:
Go to the “Edit” menu in the top-left corner of the Blender screen.
Choose “Preferences” from the drop-down menu.
Install the Add-on:
In the preferences window, navigate to the “Add-ons” tab.
Click on the “Install…” button at the bottom of the screen.
Select the Add-on File:
Browse for and select the add-on file you downloaded from its trusted source.
 
Install the Add-on:
After selecting the add-on file, click on the “Install Add-on” button at the bottom of the window.
 
 

Activate the Add-on:

 

 
Once the add-on is installed, search for it in the list by its name.
Ensure to check the checkbox next to the add-on’s name to enable it.
Save the Changes:
Click on the “Save Preferences” button at the bottom of the window to save the changes you’ve made.
Close the Preferences Window:
Click on the “Close” button to close the preferences window.
 

After following these steps, the add-on will be successfully installed in Blender and ready to use. You can now start using the add-on to build and customize cities according to your needs and creative vision.
